Slight Delay
It started with a whirring sound. Nothing dramatic (I hoped), but by the next day the hard drive failed. I back up once a month, but I recently emptied video and 2 weeks of shooting onto the hard drive, I hadn't thought to back up yet. Damn. There were at least 2 dozen photos for posts and videos too. :(
A new computer has been bought and I hope to send the hard drive off to attempt recovery, in the meantime, I'll try to shoot again. I'm feeling under the weather and things might be slow going. Please bear with me. Thank you.

Ay! You poor thing! Best of luck getting everything straightened out. I'd be lost if my comp failed on me. Have you seen the episode of sex and the city where carrie's laptop dies? it might cheer you up.
Oh no this is double bad news. If it makes you feel any better once I thought my computer was dead and I took it to "PC Guru" here in Austin and they managed to recover everything so there may be hope yet.

If you need help with your hard drive my boyfriend is a whiz, he fixes drives that the "nerd herd" say are lost.
Thanks everyone! I think a confluence of bad was happening (illness and hd death). I'm concerned for the 24-30 posts that never got a chance (and that I spent hours photographing), so I'm gonna go with a hard drive recovery service to see if I can somehow get those back. (Along with videos, mp3s and random documents.) Today my illness has abated, so I was able to go out and shoot. As I'm starting back at zero, we'll see how this goes. Again, thank you for all your kind words and encouragement.
Aw, I'm so sorry, I know how that feels: truly! there must be *some* reason for it right? The sun is just around the corner.
