Megan - Indie Mart, Wisconsin Street, SF

"Don't know really. Just got dressed. I guess just vintage stuff, mostly."

I like how she styles herself with this very gamine silhouette of visually tight cropped jeans and tucked in lavender tee-shirt. There is something very stylistically 70's skinhead (though feminine) about this particular outfit (see below; it's like those white denim-clad lads in the back there).

A look at her black vintage slingbacks.

While I can see the similarities to the skinhead style (and I appreciate the comparison/reference, being an anglophile hopelessly rooted in 1960s culture), her style is nowhere near as rugged, utalitarian, or as edgy.

Please don't get me wrong, her outfit does have some very good merits, but I think her sensibilities seem to be more in tune with trends that have been adopted by indie fashion tribes (and even by mainstream fashion chains like American Apparel and UO) in the past several years.

So while these trends might draw certain elements from the skinhead/mod traditions (like the aforementioned tucked-in shirts and rolled up jeans), I think they've become a far cry from the clean-cut, meticulous looks of that era, while still carving their own distinctive sartorial path.

@Gabriel, Thanks for your in-depth analysis, yet I still see the silhouette of what I mention, even if there has been an evolution in style in the interim period of time. (She might be referencing something that references the skinhead wardrobe, but even with that difference, I can still see the skinhead reference.)
