Dove Damage Therapy Review [Sponsored]

dove_damagetherapy

I swim about 3-5 days a week. Often enough that it affects my choices in skin care and most recently, hair care. In the last year I've noticed that my hair has become more brittle and there are quite a bit more split ends. Gross, right?

So, when Dove and Blogher approached me to try Dove Damage Therapy conditioner, I jumped at the chance. My default had been to use the gym provided shampoo and conditioner, blow dry it and go around sans product; that obviously wasn't working out well.

Into my gym bag went the conditioner. On day 1, I noticed how it was easier to comb my hair while wet, no resistance. Good job Dove! More pliant hair means less of me yanking a comb through, ergo less split ends. On day 2 the waves in my hair seemed to be more obviously (versus the triangle-y mess that is per usual) visible. Day 3-5 was more of the same, easy to comb, wavier than before. It made a noticeable enough difference that I'm planning on buying the associated shampoo to complete the regime.

I'm curious, for those of you that swim or exercise, what's your hair cleansing regime? (Answer at the link below and you can win a Spafinder gift certificate.)

I wet my hair in the shower, condition, and then pull on my swim cap. I started using Wella Brilliance Treatment as my conditioner and LOVE it.

Here's a video of my regimen:

I swim 4-5 times a week.  I don't color, or perm my hair.  I always wear a cap, and I shampoo and condition (Kiehl's Amino Acid and Formula 122) in the locker room as soon as I get out of the pool.  I focus conditioning on the ends and at the nape.  My stylist has advised me to wet my hair and apply conditioner before putting on a cap, but I confess that I never do.  On the weekends, I'll use a hair mask (Kerastase Masquintense).  Unless it's super cold out, or if I'm going to some kind of event, I never blow dry or use heated tools, and if do, I use a heat protective product, Kerastase Ciment Thérmique beforehand.  If I'm not swimming, I try to skip shampooing for a day.  Can you tell I've put a lot of thought into this? LOL.  Let's just say that many hours of swimming and surfing daily, combined with bad perms and concoctions of peroxide/lemon juice plus a blow dryer yielded rather unfortunate results on my hair as a teenager.
