Alex - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

"The boutique I work for, CC Rider. That's all."

I really like how Alex is styled. She's very fresh-faced and the denim shorts keep things proper, without being too fussy. And instead of relying on hair to overtake, she's got it pulled back. Besides the denim shorts, I'd rock this outfit (maybe black shorts for me instead, I can't get over the "never nude" from Arrested Development).

Cute red booties.

Alex and Brette of CC Rider. I always love running into SF denizens when traveling.

Roxane - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

"This dress? It's my line. I don't have a card. This is Rizal, it is a line of fur. This dress is from a line we have in France, it's called Hôtel Particulier."

What a lovely 60s inspired tunic. So simple, but cut well and the micro suede material lends a lot of depth in how the light bounces off the garment. And as an aside: how come all the very hot girls have names like Roxane and Kiki?

Her black riding-esque boots.

Julie - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

"I'm here to shop for my store, Envy, but this is just my style. I wear boots all year round. And then I just like eclectic styles."

Gorgeous pattern on the fabric of her cute dress. Julie wears her boots and dress combo well, much like a SF denizen would, though she's from the south.

Her masculine motorcycle boots making her dress look even more feminine.

Jay and Stephanie - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

Jay: "Video clips."
Stephanie: "Magazines or TV shows."

Jay and Stephanie are dressed in ideal tradeshow clothes. Smart blazers, pants that are a little more than ordinary (see how her's sparkle?) and gorgeous shoes. Practical clothes with an extra something going on, perfect for haggling over wholesale terms AND going for drinks later.

Shoegasm! Look how gorgeous her brown patent pumps are, I dream of beautiful, yet walkable pumps like these. His elongated wingtips, so shiny are nothing to sneeze at either. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that if these two walk a lot, they aren't the type to constantly stub their shoe tips thereby ruining their gorgeous shoes.

Michelle - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

"Basically whatever I think. I just like colorful bright things that stand out. Like a little bit different, but not too out of mainstream. I'm at Magic trying to promote G-Quality. It's an up-and-coming California brand that we are trying to promote nation wide."

I really like her airbrushed tunic that doubles as a dress. I think in an alternate reality, I'd wear fake lashes all day long and have perfect curls too.

Lovely blue heels, check out the petals that seemingly drape off the back.

Lucy - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

"Just vintage inspired; Thrift stores, handmade things, buttons and hand stitched."

Lucy is at Magic to represent Pink Studio. I really like her cute sweater with it's ribbon edged placket and her tiered skirt. She definitely has an aesthetic that values hand stitching and a handicraft feel. She looks comfortable and stylish for another day on the marketplace floor.

A look at her flats, notice how it looks like hand stitching?

Andrea - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

"My style is pretty eclectic. It depends on how I feel when I wake up in the morning. Today I was feeling red and black."

Andrea was at the Magic Marketplace to help promote RobnSteel. I like her pin-up take on her outfit, which when you look closely really just has to do with the way she styled her hair, with the 40s rolls and flower. Hair can really change the look of an outfit.

A look at her tall black boots.

Bruce Lee

Really wrong, but awesome at the same time. I *heart* seeing Bruce Lee, no matter what form that is.

Poketo

Now located in LA, housewares company Poketo started as a wallet company in SF. Angie Myung, Ted Vadakan, and I played the "Hey, how do I know you?" game that happens with many SF-denizens. Lovely to come from a city that is so large and small at the same time. Support them by visiting their site.

Nina - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

I like how Betsey Johnson's signature crinoline skirts and floral patterns have popped up in her collection again. Since I'm at Magic Marketplace, I'm gonna take photos of cutely dressed booth babes, as well as fashionists walking around the trade show (both inside and out). Please bear with me because I don't often take indoor photos. There won't be quotes from booth babes dressed in outfits from their employer because we all understand their motivation for what they are wearing. Anyhow, Nina and the person who was running the booth were very kind. Actually everyone was really nice yesterday. We're heading out on day two soon.

Lovely strappy shoes in patent pink, but I was informed that they aren't Betsey Johnson.

Giselle - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

"The flea market!"

Rumpled put togetherness in earth tones, on a sunny flea market day, is perfect.

I like the darker tights with the lighter shoes.

At Magic Marketplace

I'm at Magic Marketplace in Vegas. Feeling camera ready to take photos of the well heeled. Tonight I'm gonna practice taking indoor photos, so I'll be ready tomorrow for the awesomeness that is promised.

If you spot me, please say "hi". I'm really excited to be here with fashionable friends from other parts of the US.

I'm staying at Paris and will be walking the Las Vegas Convention Center floor tomorrow, bright and early. If you'd like to meet up, you can contact me by leaving a comment on this site or send out an @mai on twitter. Hope to meet loads 'o' fashionists.

Thanks!

Amanda - 18th Street, SF

"My outfit is inspired because I was going to look at an apartment with my friend and I wanted to wear something nice and warm and to wear my leggings."

I like the green hounds tooth, oddly this was the first time I remember seeing a color hounds tooth (other than the regular black and white). But after I saw Amanda and took her photo, I saw a dress as part of a young designer's RTW SS 09 collection. Though, of course, I only saw it in passing, so I can't find it.

A bit of downtown to an otherwise lady outfit.

April and Rob - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

April: "Early 60s."
Rob: "Like King's Road, 60s, Jeff Beck, Yardbirds, The Kinks, Ray Davies."

I like that they seem dressed, ready to star, in a fantastical story about a mid-century housewife and a time traveling fisherman from the turn of the century (see below). April's dress fits so well and Rob inhabits his clothes so well. What a great couple!

An actual turn of the century fisherman.

Head to toe perfection.

Isabel - 18th Street, SF

"I've been watching a lot of Fellini films actually. So that's what's been inspiring my style lately."

Decadent, but lovely to wear fur AND velvet before 2pm on a Saturday. Isabel does a great job of looking awesome yet not overdressed for the shopping trip I spotted her on. This takes a special amount of fashionist skills that she apparently possesses in spades.

Sign me up for glamorous, but still wearing flats any day.

Whitney - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

"The older the better. I really like old music and I like textiles a lot. I pay attention to colors. Mostly I try to find old stuff with patterns that maybe furniture might have. "

I love her 1970s stylin', with an element of rumpleness to lend authenticity and the feeling that she might have just tumbled out of bed and put clothes that were on her floor on her person. Great personality shining through.

Smokin' red cowboy boots.
