Yuka - 19th Street, SF

yuka19 - san francisco street fashion style

Yuka has an art opening next Saturday. You should go. She's been on fashionist two prior times and what is apparent is that Yuka is great with layers and mixing colors together in unconventional combos.

Chanel - 17th Street, SF

chanel17 - san francisco street fashion style
"This outfit is inspired by the Great Gatsby. I was thinking of the lead character, Daisy. Well one of the main characters, Daisy, she is always with him, hanging out. And I was thinking what would you wear out when you're rich and have to meet a lot of people, but still casual and comfy."

First of all, I'm not totally sure, but is this Chanel? I'm seeing it, especially since the nose piercing is the same. Secondly, I admire how she was wearing hot pant denim overalls while walking through the Mission. It doesn't hurt that she looks great in them and that they're a cool light-gray blue denim.

Coco - Valencia Street, SF

cocoval - san francisco street fashion style
"Basically, California easy-going. A little bit of Europe."

A H&M sweater worn as a micro-mini and enlivened with a blue suede jacket and a shock of orange in the form of her tote. I like that she looks unfussy, yet stylish and weather/terrain appropriate.

Erin and Geneva - Valencia Street, SF

eringeneva - san francisco street fashion style
Erin: "I kind of, usually style myself like a modern grandmother. I usually feel like old style and I really like bright colors."
Geneva: "Well this outfit i just thrown together. Sort of the same thing. I go to thrift stores and I find what I like and that means its ill-fitting and I just go with it."

I like that their outfits' color tones match. Also, cute accessories: orange watch, elastic belt with gold buckle, glasses' frames. Most outfits shine in the details.

Being a San Franciscan and wearing well-worn flats seem to go hand-in-hand.

Brian and Geary - Valencia Street, SF

mmg san francisco street fashion style
Brian: "I think Mad Men, everyday when I wake up."
Geary: "Mid-century mod-with a twist of gay modern."

I like the feel of uniform with these outfits, maybe it's the navy and dark tones. Love the element of formality in the leather loafers, collared shirt, double-breasted jacket that contrasts ever so well with the casualness of the Converse and the thermal-esque shirt.

jengue - san francisco street fashion style
"I'd say texture, pattern, and comfort."

I love her mix of patterns and fabric texture. Look at how her blouse hangs with her long pendant and how her wool jacket looks next to her knit bag.

Holly - Valencia Street, SF

holly18 - san francisco street fashion style
"My style is mainly inspired by earth and breathing new life into recycled garments and astrology and the planets and everything that connects us all."

Faux fur, lace, leather, and a bit of DIY in the form of two patches to the back of her jacket. I like the fact that her lacy bodice peeks out just a bit to tease and that her obi/corset belt is a natural leather color, in contrast to all the black she's wearing.

"Well I actually didn't know I had a style but I guess I love fabrics. Like leather, jersey, knit - that kind of stuff. And I guess I like color, prints, that sort of stuff."

I love the textures that she is mixing together, cotton, leather, studs, and knit.

"Laughter."

I love that this level of preppy might be popular in menswear again. There's an element of Urkel, sure, but clothing that brings a smile to one's face is a good thing.

Blue and black and a paper bag waist skirt. Relaxed. Perfect. Lovely hair to boot.

Ding - Dolores Street, SF

bluestripe - san francisco street fashion style
"Well, I'm from an Asian country. I'm from China, so sometimes, since I've been living here long enough, I combine like two cultural styles. Like I think I'm Asian enough to pull off some cute or jumpy, like comic stuff and sometimes, sometimes I can combine some more American mature stuff. So yeah."

I like the look of the blue braces (suspenders) with the blue striped boatneck shirt. A bit French and a bit hardcore.
