Peter - Valencia Street, SF

peterg - san francisco street fashion style
"I will say, I feel this town, people, though they certainly have some good style... People don't dress so formally and people are always questioning me, why do I dress so formally. For me, it's really out of a sort of traditionalism, rather to be eccentric or whatever."

Tall man in a 3-piece YSL suite? Best. Peter's been on here before. And he's a photographer.

Andrea - 18th Street, SF

andrea18 - san francisco street fashion style
"This outfit I just wear because it's really comfortable. These shoes I wear because they are softer than slippers. I wear them pretty much everyday."

I like the toughness and sweetness mixed together in this image of Andrea. (Sweetness includes: floral baby doll dress, headband, and cardigan. Toughness includes: tattoos, torn tights, Doc Martens.)

Very well-worn oxblood Doc Martens.

"I love polka dots, anything classical really inspires my style so... Organic fabrics and fun prints."

I like how her polka dot maxi skirt looks with her tweedy jacket.

Rebecca - 20th Street, SF

rebecca20 - san francisco street fashion style
"I would say my Mom and my Grandmother."

Great maxi dress and great hair, what more could one ask for?
rebecca20_closeup - san francisco street fashion style

Making an allowance for these Birkenstocks because they're metallic and contrast so well with her orange pedicure. Remember when Phillip Lim did a collaboration with Birkenstocks and it seemed like they might be cool, but didn't really catch on? Yeah, me neither. (My secret hope is that I will get over my aversion because they seem so comfy, but if living in Santa Cruz + Phillip Lim can't bring me over, I'm not sure what will.)

Emmalee and Jasmine - Mission Street, SF

denim2_1 - san francisco street fashion style
Emmalee:"Just like comfort and I find pieces at thrift stores and stuff and put them together depending on how I'm feeling that day."
Jasmin: "I guess pretty much comfort and I like nature stuff. I like woodland creatures and fantasy stuff. And I like colorful prints."

All about the ease of t-shirts, peasant blouses, a skirt or jeans and a denim jacket to tie it all together.

Sarah - 18th Street, SF

sarahdort - san francisco street fashion style
"Probably secondhand is a lot of what I'm inspired by. And this outfit? It kind of reminds me of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. So I guess that's what I was inspired by today."

I like the contrast of the messy braids with the almost austere like nature of her "secretary" skirt and vintage inlaid glasses frames. The indie/punky shirt add that little extra casual vibe.

peachdenim - san francisco street fashion style
"I would definitely say, just vintage - thrift shopping. These kind of collections."

Like the look of a (denim!) pinafore over striped top. There is something very 1970's-esque kindergartener about her outfit.

"I think just the fact that it's so sunny today and I just like bright colors."

This dress is by Mocion (can't find the website). I love the faded yet bold fabric pattern.

"I got this [robe-esque wrap] thing in the pajama section of a thrift store in Boston, Massachusetts. And I feel like m my grandmother got into my wardrobe somehow with her floral patterns, but that could also be because they're everywhere."

Anais - Dolores Street, SF

pinkstripe san francisco street fashion style
"Everything. I'm a product designer, so everything really. People on the street… I find inspiration everywhere."

I love how her dress has some of the Jil Sander colors for spring/summer 2011. The pop of fluorescent pink and orange look great among the lace of the season.
pinkstripe_closeup san francisco street fashion style

Black lace-up oxfords and black tights because SF is much colder than you would believe. (Not today, though it's warm now. But when this picture was taken, yes it was blustery and cold.)

"Nature and I'm really into crystals right now. So crystal formations."

So, it hasn't escaped my notice that embroidered bodices are very now, even if it invokes images of eras' past. This detail of seemingly chaotic crystals, sequins, and beads adds such *pow* to an afternoon at the park outfit.
