Jessica - 18th Street, SF

jessica18
"I'm a big fan of The Stones and Morocco."

Great patterns and a melding of the 90s (her dress, that fabric hand bag) with modern elements like her tights and shoes and that lovely, lovely hair. Go Jessica!

Lovely pedestal-heeled sued heels.

Kate - Wisconsin Street, SF

"My style is pretty simple clothing and I really like vintage clothing, individual pieces, so…"

Kate is the lovely talent behind Magic! Magic Roses. It takes a lot of fashionist foo to make cut-off denim shorts, a 90s-era tank top, loafers, and a small leather purse to look stylish and carefree and perfect, but Kate does it. (It's the details, natch!)
kateim_closeup

Really great well-worn loafers with a small side buckle. I really dig these.

Zia - Wisconsin Street, SF

zia
"Probably I'm really inspired by 19th century dandies and 1920 movie starlets and yeah..."

I think I really wanted her to say Amelia Earhart was her fashion inspiration. I love this outfit with its great details (look at those buttons on that pencil skirt) and for the way it reminds me of Sonia Rykiel's 2011 Resort Collection.

So much lovely going on: t-strap mary janes! peep toes! wooden wedge heel! cut-outs!

Coral - 18th Street, SF

coral
"I love 1950s pin up and old fashioned ladies and menswear."

Notice how this is usually the material used for house dresses, but it's cut as a (much sexier) tube dress. I like the interplay of reality and expectations in this dress.
coral_closeup

Coral highlights the dress by wearing punch leather pumps and no jewelry.

Eleanor - 18th Street, SF

bluesuede
"Flowers, just flowers."

I am in love with the way she accessorizes with the primary color pallett of red (dress), yellow (purse), and blue (shoes).
bluesuede_closeup

It's been awhile since I've come across blue suede shoes, and these pumps are a great bright pair. They really add oomph to the outfit.

Amy - Cole Valley, SF

greendresscv
"In general, I would say: vintage with a darker twist. Art Nouveau maybe."

I'm big on cuts and fit. This dress is pretty simple, but with the color and that neckline and how great it looks on Amy, it's all good. Also, those earrings that add a touch of ethnic "other" are a great addition of pattern to an outfit that is otherwise solid color blocks.
greendresscv_closeup

Perfectly worn leather cowboy boots. Wouldn't mind a pair like these in my wardrobe.

Melanie - Valencia Street, SF

melaniess
"I'd say, 1940s/1950s pin-up girls. I believe in the culture."

Halter top, tattoo iconography, beaded handbag, and bleached out white hair with a flower in it... What's not to love? Melanie is a feast for the eyes.
melaniess_closeup

Peep toe flats that have that 1930s feel.

"Disneyland."

I love how the yellow contrasts with the navy blue and the polka dots. Disney indeed.
angelass_closeup

I sort of love these red canvas lace-up shoes.

"I think, just kind of, the day. Whatever strikes me, first thing in the morning, lets me fall in tune with what I'm supposed to do."

Lingerie as outerwear done well. Not too revealing, yet lightweight and a jacket to keep the breeze away.
y18_closeup

Sandals with those amazing pink tights.

Natalia - Cole Valley, SF

nataliacv
"I've been wearing a lot of dresses lately. I find pants boring. Dresses are pretty and I like feeling feminine."

Love the 50s dress accented with 70s touches (sunglasses, belt, denim jacket).
nataliacv_closeup

I love these cut-out saddle-esque shoes. Comfort and modernity, whilst harking back to the 50s? Yes, please.

"I like things that are comfortable and easy to wear."

Pretty breezy blouse with half-sleeves and the right way to wear shorts on a moderate SF day.
louisa_closeup

Gladiators masquerading as huaraches. (I'm pretty sure.)

"I guess I like vintage shopping. Because shopping more that way. It feels more like an adventure than walking through a store and buying something. I'm always happy when I find something I like and I searched for it."

Something charming about wearing a brocade vest...
anthonyfb_closeup

These shoes have melded Converse and Reebok designs.

Len and Andrea - Wisconsin Street, SF

preppy
Len:"Indiana Jones."
Andrea: "Well Len inspires me, that's one. And, I don't know, old movie stars and Francois Hardy."

A designer once said (it may have been Isaac Mizrahi) and, of course, I'm summarizing: "If you got the hair and shoes right, everything else in-between will work-out." Might I proffer Len and Andrea as an example of this maxim? I mean how cute are their 'dos? Their clothes, cute well-fitting preppy influenced duds that call to mind classics (oxford shirt, French striped top, denim) with cute personalization, like that red heart.

And don't even get me started on their accessories (those sunglasses!) and shoes.

Marianna and Noelle - Wisconsin Street, SF

clockwork
Marianna: "This outfit. I got off of work at 6 and I wanted to be super comfortable today. So I chose all my most comfortable items."
Noelle: "I'm going to a wedding today! Of my friend and his dog - so I got dressed up."

Okay, first thing: yes, A Clockwork Orange was totally mentioned during the interview portion of picture taking (and yes, later I thought of PeeWee Herman), moving along... I like how some women just rock menswear all the way.
clockwork_closeup

Really good looking womens' shoes that fit the whole menswear thing without looking masculine. I, mean, check out that two-color leather on the oxfords and how on-trend are loafers now?

Tien - Valencia Street, SF

"Blogs. I read a lot of blogs. I have my own blog, that's adiaphane.com."

You know how Style.com does that thing where they say what trend the runway looks are expressing? Well, this would be Anthropologie - sheer, romantic.
tienss_closeup

Brown boots with great knit tights from American Apparel.
