Jaci - East 6th Street, Austin

"I really like mixing vintage with modern pieces. I like taking what is considered maybe more ridiculous or outrageous and making it more realistic and simple."

Sometimes I love outfits because they are a feast for the eyes. Not an uninteresting accessory of clothing item adorns Jaci. I would also totally wear that romper.

A look at her metallic Tom's.

"I guess my Mom. My Mom's got pretty cool style."

A very cute polka dot sundress. Looks great with her hair up and back with a hair band.

Metallic sandals.

Alex and Jessie - East 6th Street, Austin

Alex: "What inspires my style is the devil and alcohol."
Jessie: "I don't think that hard about it."

Simple, yet with a splash of color, and an injection of fun.

A look at both of their canvas shoes.

Jill - East 6th Street, Austin

"I would say this particular outfit, just the ability to be out in the sun and to be comfortable. It's pretty loose fitting."

Gorgeous dress. Notice the quilting like quality on the bodice. Of all the frocks I saw at SxSW this is the one I coveted the most. Jill, who works as a graphic designer at Elle and was super nice, she it was purchased in Carroll Gardens in Brooklyn (so any readers that live that way...).

She wears cowboy boots to complete her look.

Color and cotton are the order of the day.

Jessica - East 6th Street, Austin

"That it fits. Anyone that's ever been pregnant will tell you that pregnancy clothes are terrible. I don't know (who the designer is) I got it at a garage sale 9 years ago. I paid $4 for it and all the sizes are European, so I don't know. It's got a pocket that goes deep into the thing. I only own two pairs of pants that fit me in anyway. So I've taken to wearing dresses and overalls. I'm 5 months pregnant."

A great dress and cute unfussy hair that makes pregnancy look "wow". Those bangs and those sunglasses, how gorgeous huh?

A look at her sandals and blue polish toenails.

Alison - Waller Street, Austin

alisonsxsw"I just like a lot of vintage pieces. I like to put different stuff together. This is all from a thrift store. My inspiration is I guess, I don't know, [nearby friend] Laura Purdy."

Cute late 70s, early 80s sundress with a scattered floral print. Also check out her extreme aviator sunglasses with the orange lens.

Look at her cool vintage leather boots with a suede inset.

"Not necessarily this outfit, but I really like late 50s, early 60s feminine looking clothes. That's what I usually go for."

I love the polka dots. Also, something about the way her layered bandeau and tank top cross looks fresh and modern.

Cute basic brown leather boots.

Hannah - East 6th Street, Austin

"I'm from London. I love the mixture. I'm dressed quite eclectically, so I love my vintage. I'm inspired by all sorts of people. Everybody from Betty Page to Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Chloë Sevigny. Everyone! I mix it together."

Hannah is the proprietress of French Kiss Vintage. Love her bright colors and the eclectic mix of her tattoo tights (want!), her hair bow, sunglasses, and pink floral dress.

I really love that with this outfit, she's still practical and wears flats for walking around Austin.

Frankie Rose - West 4th Street, Austin

"Oh, I don't know. Being comfortable, I guess."

A black flower adorns her hair and she's wearing a floral blouse as a dress, what isn't there to like? Sure the pantyhose is a little punk rock, but hey, it's SxSW.

A look at her motorcycle ankle boots.

Updated: Frankie Rose is in the Dum Dum Girls. A group I wanted to see at SxSW, but didn't. (Thank you Anon commentor!)

Sara - West North Loop, Austin

"I'm really into art and I see fashion as another form of art. I'm really into textiles and being creative and open and free and trying to stand out. Be a little bit different So that's typically what inspires me."

Sara's got the fur and denim thing covered. Actually she has the vest, denim, fur thing covered - all in one statement piece. Color me impressed with how effortlessly all these pieces work together without seeming overdone. This would have worked as well at a nightclub as they did in the parking lot show. Also, something very Alexander Wang about her layered tanks and the silver necklace, right?

A look at her perfectly worn lace-up booties.

Leah - East 4th Street, Austin

"My style is inspired by whatever is the strangest stuff that I can find."

Something compelling about this sea foam green dress. It's great how she pairs it with that hat, it reminds me of ladies who attend Sunday church services.

Arran - East 7th Street, Austin

"I am here from Ireland playing with my band, Dark Room Notes. Our album "We Love You Dark Matter" is going to be released in the US in April. Oh yeah, my inspiration comes always from colour!"

I love her bright green jeans, probably because I have a hard time pulling off colored denim. (Though I try, oh I try.) Check out her pin and scarf too.

Look at those beautiful green heels and how she rolls up her jeans.

C - West 5th Street, Austin

"I work at American Apparel."

Okay I crashed a photo shoot. I asked permission though. The photographer and I have the same camera, but he has an impressively large lens. I'm stoked that AA is pushing velvety colored corduroys.

Dirty sneaks.

Gudbjörg - West North Loop, Austin

"Just classical, I think. I like old vintage, but also just classical - it can always work."

Gudbjörg Hlin Gudmundsdottir plays the violin and sings harmonies/backing vocals for the band Seabear. Love that she has these classic tailored clothes that she amps up with colored tights and interesting shoes.

A look at her soft leather saddle shoe high heels. They're pretty cool.

Sindri - West North Loop, Austin

"Sweden. I used to live there. I like it."

Sindri Már Sigfússon is the founder/lead singer/guitarist of two of my favorite bands: Seabear and Sin Fang Bous. I like how his outfit is simple, textural (heathered specks), spare, and looks personalized by cutting out a neckline and making it a slight v and re-sewing it. (Or is this a neckline now and I'm woefully behind in t-shirt neckline styles?) Also, nice splash of red via the wayfarers.

They even wear Converse in Iceland.
