Toshiyuki - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

Heard the Urkel preppy look was hot. Toshiyuki has taken it further (and is killing it) with the Urkel Run DMC look.

If you're doing Run DMC, you'll need Adidas.

Nas - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

"I just look at a lot of style blogs and that's about it."

I like the chainmail look of her sweater, how she's layering it with a beater, her hair, and those sunglasses that may or may not be aviators.

Booties that are pretending they are construction worker boots.

Caitlin - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

"I guess 60s fashion, pretty ladies [laughter].

Layering black with ruffles and shoes as color spotlight. Something is going on at the Flea Market.

A look at her boots.

Ashley - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

"This oufit was a mix of San Francisco schizophrenic weather, so I have lots of layers, and just trying to be comfortable for the day."

I like that Ashley looks pulled together and her comfort entails being monochrome, making her stand out piece, her cowboy boots, the focus in her outfit.

The aforementioned cowboy boots.

Momoca - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

Momoca has been on fashionist a couple of times before. She is one of the most stylish people I've ever had the pleasure of photographing. My awe with her consistent chapeau wielding ability pretty much eclipses any other accessorizing power other fashionists have. Momoca also has the power of mixing textures and color to create a gorgeous depth in each outfit. I like her netted and be-ribboned bowler coupled with the classic striped top and the black wool skirt with unexpected bow.

She's always stellar, look at these great booties with the texture of the knit tights.

Kate - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

"I just got this dress from a clothing exchange at my friend's house and I really like it because it's comfortable and I guess my style is like free, salvaged. I like to find stuff in the garbage. I like to find stuff for free."

I like her cardigan, and the silhouette of her outfit that somehow reminds me of the late 50s, early 60s (without crinoline).

Cute slouchy suede boots.

Ewa - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

"It's just how I dress."

Ewa's outfit is a visual feast for the eyes. Her sunglasses! Her hair! That skirt! Those tights!

Who knew you could find these shoes in gray?

Paul Sisti for Nudie - Magic Marketplace, Las Vegas

I'm currently at the Magic Marketplace/Pool Tradeshow in Las Vegas, Nevada. Yesterday I came upon this very lovely denim jacket, it's one-of-a-kind (of course it is) and boy did I want to try it on (I didn't).

If you're not quite seeing what I see, check out the picture below. Those sleeves! (Right?) I was walking through rows and rows of clothes that started to look very similar, very very fast. And then we suddenly came upon this jacket. Apparently Sisti is a fashion student in Chicago. He made this lovely jacket as part of a contest Nudie is sponsoring for design students.

Much thanks to the Magic/Project team that enabled me to have such access. I return to SF tomorrow, but will share my photos over the next week or so.

Megan - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

"I guess music."

That faux fur coat, that lipstick, and those great shoes.

A closer look at those oxfords.

Al - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

al"I buy clothes that fit my body."

I'm often impressed by very bright colors worn together, especially on young guys who tend towards wearing conservative blues, blacks, and khakis.

Cool spare trainers.

Kirsten - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

kirstenaf"Basically what inspires my style is the books that I read and the music I listen to."

I like the pattern on her shawl, her patterned tights, her layered bolo and ankh pendants, and her great braids.

Mid-calf black lace-up leather boots.

Janiva - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

"I'm guessing... This one? I've been really into Mad Max."

Wow! (Right?) Janiva looks great in her early 80s era fur coat with extra fur tassels. The coat is offset by her plain white t-shirt, her fringe scarf, and her denim ever-so-slightly bell bottoms.

Keeping everything else low-key she's wearing plain black suede moccasins.

April - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

It's been a year since I've seen April at the Flea Market. I saw her lovely coat in the distance and knew I needed to stop her, she kindly stopped and let me fawn over her again. Maybe it'll be our annual thing.

Shoes in beautiful vintage condition. How does she do it?

Kristi - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

kristiaf"I have no idea what inspired me to put this on this morning."

Lovely bright yellow cowl neck sweater with small velvet jacket.

A look at her well-worn leather oxfords.

Katie - Alameda Flea Market, Alameda

katieaf"I buy things that I like that are simple and will last for a long time, that I'll like for a long time."

I love the 70s vibe, cleaned up and made a little glamorous. Katie is great at accessorizing and the contrast of those two denims? She's definitely got an eye for what works.

Notice that her jewelry, those layered bracelets, that necklace, those rings and her belt buckle are all in the same tone of gold with a shimmer of patina.

Also a bit of whimsy in her tooled and panted leather handbag.

Slouchy boots that own more to the aughts then to the 70s.
