Denise - Cortland Avenue, SF

denise
"I just wear what I feel. This was a really warm day, so I decided to be comfortable. I like earth colors and that kind of stuff, so... It just depends on my mood."

I like her glamorous preppy urban style (the hair covering is the urban). Denise knows how to put diverse elements together to make a cohesive outfit that is colorful and looks great.

Miranda - Cortland Avenue, SF

miranda1"Inspires my style? Probably mostly my mood. And color, I love color."

Sometimes I stop people for the little things. In Miranda's case I like her bright yellow shirt, her LV duffle handbag and her Nike quilted kicks.

Those aforementioned quilted kicks.

Tamara - Cortland Avenue, SF

tamara"I like going shopping at vintage stores and used clothing stores and seeing what I can find. Usually I can find the most amazing things for $5, which is a lot of fun."

I like her mohair jagged/lightening sweater dress. I own two sweaters of similar design, but haven't seen a dress in such good shape. It fits her well (check how it sits squarely on her shoulders and how there is an ever so slight pouf at the shoulder point) and it's flattering on her figure. Also? Cute bangs. Go Tamara!

Katie and Hana - Cortland Avenue, SF

Katie: "I take inspiration from definitely, a little bit of throwback, but make it a little more modern. I'm inspired by where I'm at, like if I'm a specific city, that will inspire. [For example] layering in San Francisco and if I go somewhere else, I make it a little unique to that city."
Hana: "I just like to have my own style and kind of bring it to the table. I like to have a little bit of a vintage look, but my own style and bring it, kind of, to this [modern] day."

I love how sophisticated, yet comfortable and slouchy Katie looks in her anorak, layered with her scarf and black dress. Her outfit (including her hairstyle) radiates a studied put togetherness that is just slightly rumpled. It's like she couldn't be bothered today, but by the way, no matter what she throws on, she always looks great. Hana, on the other hand, looks dapper and chic in layering her menswear pieces. She's wearing a tuxedo shirt and bow tie (mid-day, no less) with a checked vest and a lovely cardigan. I think the key with women wearing menswear, is getting the fit right and Hana definitely has it right here.

A look at Katie's slouchy heeled boots and Hana's cute two-tone loafers.
