"I don't know. Comfort."

I like his very comfy Indiana Jone's-esque jacket and his bedhead. I have long suspected that there are people who just roll out of bed and slip on loafers(!) without socks, skinny jeans, a leather jacket with a faux fur collar and throw their camera over their shoulder; I've just never seen one in the wild before.

"I'm a costume designer. I use a lot of vintage clothing and I wanted to mix different eras together."

This is one of those, glad I had my camera with me even though I wasn't on a photo walk. There's a charming dapper quality to his outfit and his accessories; especially the little bag and his hat.

"Honestly I was eating dinner one night at Herbivore, in the Mission, and I saw a girl who took a pair of tube socks; cut the bottom off. And I was like - 'Damn, I like that.' - I already have a pair of really long ones like that, I'm running out of laundry, it sounds very arbitrary, but I just put the two together and... Right now I'm living out of a backpack, I came out from the East Coast, I do not have a home, nor a job and I'm making things work as they come."

"I guess, I'd just say warmth. I just got off work. I have a cool wolf shirt underneath. I just wanted to be comfortable and boyish."

Eva is actually one of the first people I took a photo of when fashionist was still in stealth mode. It's great to see she is consistently fashionable. I love her blue jacket worn with her patterned purple scarf and great boots.

Jonathan and Jessica - Haight Street, SF

Jonathan: "I think I'm inspired by Jessica because this is the style she likes. She picked these clothes out for me."
Jessica: "He's very colorful, he has gotten me to wear more color, but not today. Well I walk a lot, that's why I have these boots, I have to wear two pairs of socks - in order to make them fit. This jacket is very *Winter Wonderland* and I love the seasons, I don't have peripheral vision in it. I like to wear skirts because I like to feel footloose and fancy free. What else? What inspires my style? I wear vintage. I'm a curvy gal and I like that about me, so I like to wear things that fit."

I really like that Jonathan wears his clothes cut slim, even though he's slight, his clothes fit him very well. Both Jessica's coat and boots look great.

Jennie: "I would say I'm influenced a lot by Japanese style and culture. Also, by new things I find at Goodwill and Salvation Army (stores)."
Carolee: "I think it's the magpie desire to collect the things that you have. It's really simple, so I feel that is happening a lot in Scandanavia and stuff like that. High and low."

I like that they look a combo of San Francisco toughness coupled with Nordic woolens. A bit of fairytale whimsy and a bit of SF, a great combo to battle our foggy weather.

"The new Indiana Jones movie coming out in May. This vest is my Indiana Jones' vest, this shirt is my Indiana Jones' shirt and this necklace is my Indiana Jones' necklace."


As our weather gets a little bit colder, I'm interested in how people interpret fashion through the use of layers. Gordot does a good job of looking unique and weather appropriate.

Though I'll allow it may be all in the accessories.


Gordot mentioned that he has a pile of Vans and he just grabs two, hence the "Punky Brewster" mismatch style he's sporting.

Justin - Haight Street, SF

"Andy Warhol."

I'm preoccupied with the fact that Justin reminds me of the character played by John Turturro in Search and Destroy crossed with Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men.

In Search and Destroy, Ron (Turturro) is unable to choose between two coats, so he wears both to stylistic effect. Justin is also wearing two coats to stylistic effect, I'm particularly drawn to the lapel and lining of his over coat.
